2. Eligibility Requirements

    • Open to PhD students and early-career postdoctoral fellows within 5 years of starting their first postdoctoral fellowship.
  • Course Timing:
    • Intended for those planning to attend a neuroscience training course between July 1 and December 31, 2025.
  • Exclusions:
    • Applications for IBRO-Supported Schools should be made directly to the school of interest.

3. Eligible Costs

  • Covered Expenses:
    • Training course registration fees.
    • Travel related to the training course.
    • Local expenses.
  • Non-Covered Expenses:
    • Costs related to conference/meeting attendance.
    • Costs related to exchange stays at another laboratory.

4. Maximum Grant Amounts

  • Regional Allocation:
    • Africa: $5,000 USD
    • Asia-Pacific: $3,000 USD
    • Latin America: $6,000 USD
    • Pan-Europe: $4,500 USD
    • US/Canada: $4,000 USD

5. Application Details

    • Applicant Details: Academic background and current research focus.
    • Course Description: Relevance of the training course to research and career development.
    • Impact Statement: Benefits of attending the course for research and career trajectory.
    • References: At least one letter of reference, preferably from the current supervisor.
    • Budget Request: Detailed breakdown of course fees, travel costs, and local expenses.

6. Funding Priority

  • Focus Areas:
    • Priority given to applicants from underrepresented or under-resourced backgrounds.
    • Emphasis on promoting gender and regional diversity.
    • Preference for applicants leveraging IBRO funds as matching funds.

7. Grant Payment and Reporting

  • Conditions:
    • Grant awarded upon submission of the course acceptance letter.
    • Funds disbursed in an 80:20 format (80% before the course, 20% upon completion).
    • Submission of certificate of attendance/completion and grant report required for final payment.
